Nash Daily: Cody Glass to IR, Coyotes Steamroll Blackhawks
As first reported by Nashville Hockey Now, the Nashville Predators placed forward Cody Glass to injured reserve on Monday. Glass Joines Defenseman Luke Schenn as the second Predators player on IR this season.
Glass is eligible to travel and participate in all team activities while on IR, but he must miss at least seven calendar days before he can return to the active 23-man roster. His injury designation was not retroactive, which means the clock started on Oct. 30 and the quickest he can return is Nov. 6.
However, it’s likely he won’t ready to play until after Nashville’s five-game roadtrip out west. The Predators next home game is Nov. 11 against the Arizona Coyotes — a much more reasonable return date.
With Glass on IR, the Predators recalled defenseman Marc Del Gaizo from the Milwaukee Admirals. Del Gaizo has yet to make his NHL debut, but he offers solid offensive upside and he was my pick this offseason during our staff predictions to be the first player recalled from Milwaukee.
It will be interesting to see how and when head coach Andrew Brunette decides to use him with seven defenseman and 11 forwards now on the active roster. Del Gaizo is waiver exempt, so he may be sent back to Milwaukee without having to go through the waiver process.
In Case You Missed It
The recent suspension of Shane Pinto for gambling-related activities makes one wonder what happened and the need for further clarity on NHL gambling policies.
Liam Foudy was a high-risk, high-reward waiver claim last week. He did not have the strongest outing in his debut against the Toronto Maple Leafs, so he will seek to bounce back during the roadtrip.
Twenty-five years with NHL hockey in Nashville, and there are a lot of memories.
